State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) Assam conducts D.El.Ed Pre-entrance Test (PET) within the second week of May 2020. Candidates are given admission in a 2-Year Diploma in Education (D.El.Ed.) course through PET. Only residents of Assam can apply for SCERT Assam D.El.Ed 2020. The Test shall have Two Sections: Section-I and Section-II

  • Duration of exam: Assam D.El.Ed PET 2020 is of two (2) hours.
  • Mode of exam: The exam is a pen-paper based test.
  • Number of questions: There are a total number of 100 questions in the exam.
  • Type of questions: All the questions are Multiple-choice in nature.
  • Sections: There are two (2) sections in PET 2020.
  • Marking system: The performance of the candidates shall be evaluated both on the basis of correct and incorrect responses recorded on the OMR sheet. For every incorrect response, a 0.25 mark shall be deducted from the total marks secured by the candidate for correct responses. More than one response given to a question will be treated as an incorrect response.

A. General English: vocabulary, tenses, verbs, preposition, comprehension, voice-change, narration, adverbs, synonyms, antonyms.
B. General Knowledge: Current affairs, who is who, abbreviations, the constitution of India, history of Assam, Inventions and discoveries, Sports. Art and culture, Every day Science, World Organizations, Geography of India, Educational Commissions and Committees, New Educational Initiatives, Educational Organizations
C. Reasoning: Logical and analytical reasoning, pattern, etc.
D. Education: Teaching-learning, process, individual differences, learning Assessment/Evaluation, Role, functions and quality of teacher, principles & maxims of teaching, Educational philosophy & laws, the purpose of Education, Role of other agencies in school management, Concept of TLM and its importance, Leadership quality of teachers.

  1. Numbers: Natural, Whole, even and odd numbers, prime and composite numbers, place value, four fundamental operations of number, factors and multiples, prime factors, LCM and HCF, ascending and descending order.
  2. Fractions: Concept of fraction and its uses,
  3. Percentage: Concept of percentage, solving problems involving percentage, profit, and loss.
  4. Money: Concept of money, solving problems involving money.
  5. Geometry: Angles, types of angles, types of triangle, types of the quadrilateral, circle.
  6. Measurement: Length, area, volume and perimeter of different geometrical figures, Measurement of weight and time.
  7. Data handling: Representation of data, Bar diagram, Pie diagram.
  8. Square & square root: Concept of square root, solving problems involving square root.
  9. Ratio and proportion
  10. Simple algebraic equation.
B. Science & Environmental Science
  1. Natural and Social Environment,
  2. Factors influencing the environment.
  3. Causes of environmental degradation: Air, water, sound and soil pollution.
  4. Bio-diversity
  5. Environmental Issues: Flood, erosion, earthquake, deforestation, population explosion.
  6. Environmental protection- Constitutional provision, Protection Acts, Role of individual and local bodies, NGOs and Government.
  7. Different states and characteristics of matter, physical and chemical change,
